Standard we build to

This site is built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at Level AA. The Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation made under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act names WCAG 2.0 Level AA for designated organisations; building to 2.2 Level AA meets that and goes beyond it.

What we have done

  • Every interactive control is reachable and operable using a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator.
  • Text meets a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1, and interface components at least 3 to 1, against their background.
  • Every page has one main heading and a heading structure with no skipped levels.
  • Every form field has a real, programmatically associated label, and errors are announced and tied to their field.
  • Interactive targets are at least 24 by 24 CSS pixels, and most are 44 by 44 or larger.
  • The site reflows without horizontal scrolling at 320 CSS pixels wide and at 200 percent zoom.
  • No information is conveyed by colour alone.
  • Animation and smooth scrolling are disabled automatically when your system requests reduced motion.
  • A skip link is the first focusable element on every page.
  • The site does not use an accessibility overlay widget. Overlays sit on top of a page rather than fixing it, and frequently interfere with the assistive technology you already use.

Known limitations

We test with automated tooling, a keyboard walkthrough and a screen reader pass. Automated tooling catches roughly a third of possible failures, so manual testing carries most of the weight and some issues may still reach the live site. If you find one, please tell us.

Websites and applications we build for clients are delivered to WCAG 2.2 Level AA, audited with both automated and manual testing, and retested against the fix list before handover.
